Deal a Story
Tagboard - 4 1/4”x 2 1/2” - 101 cards |
Ever have writer’s block? Or perhaps wished you could come up with a good sub-plot? Deal a Story is the fun answer.
The card deck consists of six sections, plus five wild cards.
• heroes • heroines • villains
• plots • genres • flaws
Each section has 16 cards. The writer picks one card from each section and brainstorms
a story. Great fun especially with a critique group or writing class. Perfect
for both beginning writers and full-time professionals.
And to add to the fun, I have added five wild cards (jokers) just in case you need a plot twist or are stumped for what to do with the “sagging middle” of your book.
Didn’t like that villain, simply pick another one. Not sure that plot will work, pick another one. And totally lost as to what to do next to confuse your main character - pick a wild card.
Those who have used the cards simply love them.
“I took the cards to my weekly critique meeting. We took turns choosing a color, then we worked together coming up with a story. Great fun. And one of the writers had enough ideas to actually start a new novel.”
Cheryl Cusick, writer.
“One night, after the kids were asleep, I pulled out the cards and began
moving them around. I soon had a great idea for a short story that I have begun
to write. The cards were a god-send for jump starting my creative juices again.”
Beth Kenyon, writer
